02/17/09 (9:00 am): At approximately 5:00 pm last Friday February 13, 2009 a major power outage affected half the campus. Power was restored to all buildings within a few hours. Despite the power outage, the campus remained open. The campus community was advised to check http://campusstatus.ucr.edu for ongoing updates.

02/13/09 (8:00 pm): At approximately 5:00 pm this evening a major power outage affected half the campus. Power was restored to all buildings, with the exception of Veitch Student Center (Health Center) and Physical Plant. Campus is currently undergoing contingency plans to bring a generator in and restore power where needed. Despite the power outage, the campus remains open. The campus community is advised to check http://campusstatus.ucr.edu for ongoing updates.

02/13/09 (6:45 pm): At approximately 5:00 pm this evening a major power outage affected half the campus. Buildings affected include Rivera Library, Watkins Hall, Physical Plant (in several locations), Electrical Plumbing, Fleet, Mail Services, the Barn, Material Management, Olmsted Hall, Veitch Student Center (Health Center), Sproul Hall, and Hinderaker Hall. Reports are primarily from older buildings without backup power, thus there may be more buildings affected. City of Riverside Utilities is enroute. It is currently unknown how long the power outage will last. Despite the power outage, the campus remains open, but extreme caution is advised. There is a chance that special events will be cancelled. The campus community is advised to check http://campusstatus.ucr.edu for ongoing updates.

02/13/09 (5:00 pm): Power outage affecting half the campus. Physical Plant is on scene trying to determine cause, origin, fix, etc. More updates to come. 

 

06/25/08 (10:00 am): Air conditioning and elevator service have been restored in CHASS, Hinderaker Hall, Humanities, and Physical Education.

 

06/24/08 (12:30 pm): Classes have been moved or cancelled (see list below). Please refer to http://summer.ucr.edu for more information:

All classes in HMNSS building have been cancelled for 06/24/08 (beginnning at 12:00 pm or after)

  • AHS 008-101 and AHS 008-121 are cancelled for 06/24/08  and moved to INTS 2134 (temporarily)
  • ART 003-101 is cancelled for 06/24/08 and moved to INTS 1130 (temporarily)
  • ART 007-101 is cancelled for 06/24/08 and moved to INTS 2130 (temporarily)
  • CRWT 043-101 has been moved to WAT 1111 for 06/24/08 (6:00 pm - 9:00 pm). Instructor will meet the class at HMNSS 1401 and direct students to the new room.
  • CRWR/THEA 164A-101 has been moved to SPR 2212.
  • DANCE 005-101 has been moved to PE 159
  • MUS 002-101 is cancelled for 06/24/08 and moved to INTS 2138 (temporarily).
  • THEA 050 has been moved to INTS 1128 for 06/24/08 (only) 

 

06/24/08 (10:32 am): Elevator service has been restored in CHASS North, and Hinderaker Hall is expected to be operational within the hour. Air conditioning service is expected to be restored later in the evening for the following buildings: CHASS North, Hinderaker Hall, Humanities, and Physical Education. 

 

06/24/08 (7:30 am): Power outage remains in the Arts building; this building is closed for classes, events, and faculty/staff work through the evening of 06/24/08. Air conditioniong and elevator service is unavailable in CHASS North, Hinderaker Hall, Humanities, and Physical Education. These buildings are open for classes, events, and faculty/staff work but activities will be restricted due to temperature concerns.

 

06/24/08 (6:30 am): Power has been restored to all buildings except the Arts buildings. This building is closed for classes, events, and faculty/staff work until further notice.

 

06/23/08 (5:30 pm): Power outages have been attributed to a plumbing problem, which have been isolated by the Physical Plant department. Utility services are expected to be restored by tomorrow 06/24/08 (8:00 am). Faculty, staff, and students should anticipate normal work and class schedules. The campus is advised to check this website for any last minute updates.

 

06/23/08 (4:00 pm): At approximately 1:00 pm this afternoon, a 10" water line in the steam tunnels had burst and caused flooding in several buildings (Hinderaker, Fine Arts, and Physical Education). Power outages spread to other buildings in the same region of the campus. Building occupants were safely evacuated and advised to leave the campus. People were directed to refrain from using elevators (even in unaffected buildings) due to the unpredictable electrical service. Affected buildings included: Anderson Graduate School of Management, CHASS North, Fine Arts, Humanities, HMNSS, Hinderaker Hall, Kenn Hall, Physical Education, Rivera Library, Surge, University Lecture Hall, and Watkins Hall. Classes and events scheduled in these buildings were cancelled for the rest of the evening.
